Summer Youth Employment Program 2012

The Ulster County Office of Employment and Training is pleased to announce the start of recruitment for their Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) for 2012. Their TANF Summer Program has received funding, therefore they are beginning to accept applications for SYEP 2012.

The program is designed to serve youth aged 14-20 who meet income eligibility as described below. The program provides a paid summer work experience that historically has lasted for five weeks.

Under TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) a youth’s eligibility is based on:

-family income being at or below 200% of the poverty level or the family or youth receive:

-Cash public assistance and/or food stamps

-Medicaid

-HEAP or

-Free or reduced school lunch or

-the youth receives SSI

Any youth interested in participating inthe SYEP must complete an application and return it to ULSTER WORKS OneStop Job Center at 651 Development Court, Kingston NY 12401. Attached to each application muct be a copy of the youth applicant’s birth certificate and social security card. Applications are reviewed on a first come/first serve basis. Steps are taken to assure that the program reaches youth and employers county-wide.
